Are you tired of always having rough and dry hair? Is frizz ruining your chance of looking great in your prom dress or dream date? If you answer is yes to all these questions, you have to stop the frizzy hair curse now.
What is it with Curly Hair and Frizz?
Frizz is often associated with curly hair. Regardless of whether your curls are natural or salon groomed, frizziness is an everyday problem that you have to deal with. Contrary to what many people believe, curly hair is not thick or coarse. It is actually very delicate and more sensitive to damage and moisture loss. Frizziness occurs when the hair is dehydrated from deep down. This is a double whammy since curly hair is prone to dryness to begin with. Here are a few things you can do to tame the frizz on your curly hair.
• Be Kind To Your Hair. Since curly hair is sensitive, never brush it while it is wet. A wide toothed comb works best on damp towel dried hair. Comb your hair gently and do not pull or yank at tangles because your hair might break. Do not wring water out of your hair or rub it too briskly with a towel either.
• Use a Deep Conditioning Treatment. You can opt to use a leave-on conditioner after shampooing or have a deep conditioning treatment every few days. Leave-on conditioners are thicker and contain more moisture than ordinary conditioners which are rinsed out after shampooing. Deep conditioning protein
treatments, on the other hand, have more protein and other essential vitamins that your hair needs to stay healthy. You can apply this evenly onto wet or dry hair and leave on from 20 to 45 minutes before washing off. There are plenty of brands of leave-on conditioners or protein treatment conditioners on the market you can choose from.
• Avoid Hair Styling Products With Alcohol. Alcohol is a natural enemy of hair moisture. If your hair is prone to frizziness and dryness, better be sure to read product labels. Some brands of hairspray and mousse have alcohol, so stay clear of those.
• Style Your Hair With Care. Another cause of frizziness is over styling. Sometimes the hair cannot take all the pulling and tugging it is subjected to, as well as the intense heat from flat irons and blow dryers. When blow drying your hair make sure that you use a paddle brush that has natural fibers as this is gentler to your hair and set the blow dryer or straightening iron on low heat. This might make the process of blow drying or ironing your hair a tad longer but this will keep your hair a lot healthier. When using a blow dryer, always make sure that you point the nozzle downwards. If the nozzle is pointed upwards, it will blow on the shorter hairs and cause them to become dry and frizzy.
Most people with frizzy hair go to salons and have stylists fix their unruly locks. The results are great but oftentimes temporary. If you know the tips and tricks to taming frizzy hair, you can end the frizzy hair curse for good.
